I'm running Win 98 se on a machine with an AMD Athlon 1.2 gigahertz mother board and a 60 gig and a 40 gig hard drive.

My problem is I had a brief power outage. When I rebooted everything came up fine to the desktop, but I had an error message saying "explorer has caused an invalid page fault in module ILFRARED.DLL at 019f:10016e94." When I clicked "close" I lost everything on the desktop but the desktop color stayed the same. I did not go to the infamous "Blue screen of death" showing an error message.

When I rebooted I got the previous "explorer" error message and when I clicked "close" I got the following error message: "RUNDLL32 caused an invalid page fault in module CYGWIZ.DLL at 019f:10016e94." When I clicked "close" on it, I lost everything on the screen but it still had the same desktop color.

When I rebooted again after the desktop appeared I again got the above mentioned "explorer" error message again, but this time just moved the error message dialogue box to the extreme bottom right of my desktop and double clicked Internet Explorer on the desktop. IE worked fine, that's how I got here to make this post. Also Outlook Express is working fine, also I'm guessing all my other programs. Can someone please help? Thanks

Go to Start\Run and type in SFC and press Enter. Just click on Start in that window and let it scan for altered files. I do not recognize the filenames as windows files, are these spelled correctly?

Check the file names again and see if actually called

    INFRARED.DLL (windows file)
CYGWIN.DLL (cygin library http://www.cygwin.com/ used by some windows apps)
