I have Windows XP on my computer. Can anyone tell me an easy way to put two or more files on a screen at one time so that I can copy from one file to another. Thank you very much.

If you are talking about 2 folders, simply open both folders simultaneously, place your cursor over the clock at the bottom right of your task bar, right-click, and choose "Tile Window Vertically ". Now you can Drag and Drop, Copy and Paste, or whatever.

Simply double click on the icon for each folder. They will likely open with one on top of another on your screen. The Tile command will cause them to line up correctly.

If you're trying to open two folders simultaneously, you also need to go into My Computer, then to Tools>Folder Options>General tab and make sure "Open each folder in its own window" is checked.

If, on the other hand, you want to open two Word documents simultaneously and be able to see them both on the screen, open them both, then go to to the top where it says "Window" and click on "Arrange All. "

I don't know about XP, but unless the folders in question are one nested inside another this is not the case. For instance if you open say My Documents, and My Computer, they will both open in their own window.

    Check out "Total Commander "

    Hi,

If this is to be a continuing need you may want to investigate this site http://www.ghisler.com/ home to Total Commander (recently renamed from Windows Commander). Besides offering two side by side directories Mr. Geisler has over the years built what I would call the "Swiss Army Knife of File Managers ". His FTP is the only one I have managed to use.

    Total Commander

    Hi,

I misread the original inquiry. The above post misses the mark. I couldn't delete it so this is a retraction of its suitabilty for what was originally requested. But, in its own right, Total Commander is a first rate program.

    Regards,

    EVR
