I have a Canon IP3500 printer which will allow me to select DRAFT mode. I would like (as I had on Win98) to have two copies of the printer installed so that I can have one for regular mode and one for draft. I was told by Dell that WinXP would not allow me to have two copies in the ControlPanel/Printer, one for standard quality and one for draft quality.

IF that is right, is there a way to have a Keyboard macro that would activate the mode of the printer when ready to print?

Have you actually tried to install the printer a second time using the Add Printer Wizard - I have a feeling that I was in that situation at some time in the past.

Yes, I did that before I found out what the tech said. He said the XP kernel is based on NT rather than the older Win versions.

Now I'm looking for a macro solution

Hmm - memory dulls with time - must have been in the Win98 days then :)

I am rather doubtful that a macro solution is possible - the change from Draft to Regular is within the printer software which is not invoked until the Print command is given.

Keyboard Macro may work in MS Office or such applications which allow it. I don't think system wide macro is possible.
