I've installed Win XP, and I've set up an account for me, and one for my wife, both set for administrator.

We were using Outlook Express for email, and it comes up as normal under my account (showing all of our email accounts), but under her Windows account, OE is completely blank, like it was just installed. I tried putting a shortcut to OE in the shared documents folder as suggested in the FAQ, but it is still not finding the inbox, address book, etc files.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Windows is designed to do this using multi profiles.

You should be able to "import" the info from your profile..Or bout of you can sign on with as the same person..

    Import

Tried importing the settings and mail, but OE wants to import from another type of mail program, or a previous version of OE. It doesn't want to find itself. By the way, where are the Outlook Express files (settings, email, etc) kept? Maybe they're just somewhere the other account can't see.

Also tried exporting from the working account, but it only has the option of exporting the address book or settings to a file, neither of which I was able to later import.

I may just end up scrapping the non-working account and go back to both of us using the same one that works. BUT... really hoping to work this out. Thanks.

    Figured it out

For those who care, I figured it out...

Under Tools, Options, Maintenance tab, there is a "Store Folder" button.

I looked under my username and found the folder that all of the Outlook Express information was stored. It was in a way nested folder under one that was set as hidden, so I never saw it. I looked under my wife's username and found that somehow, when XP was installed, her store folder location was changed.

Pointed it toward the old folder, and there you have it. Also found the address book in a nearby folder, and was able to import it for her.

Now that you know how to find the Store Folder, why don't you click that button that says CHANGE while you're on that screen.

First create an empty folder named MyMail on your c: root. Then create two sub folders inside it, name one for you and one for your wife.

Now back to the Change button. Do it under each of your mailboxes and browse it to the newly created subfolder for the respective person each time.

Then next time you'll be able to find your mail folder easier and be able to back it up or whatever you want without having to wonder where Windows might have it hidden.
