    All,

    Have two problems which are:
    1. 1. Need a good example of sending email from within Access. Want to use config for the email I enter into a table for this so export of Data into Zipped Excel file can be MIME encrypted and sent to corporate location,
    2. 2. Problem with "Afterupdate" event on drop-down, in a non-modal POPup, where the subroutine called in the class module, gets re-assigned to all objects (buttons, fields, labels) so none of the buttons on the screen function any longer, even the "RETURN ", as the "GET" subroutine in the class module is always called even when using the "X" form close button to finally get out of the screen.

If needed I will find place/space to put up both form and class module code in question.

Please post a zipped up sample of your working db and I'll take a look at it.

If you upload the zip file to your FTP and post an http link, I should be able to download it.

We are not overly happy on people posting the same problem on one or more forums and would never encourage it. Our time, given voluntarily is precious and can be better used elsewhere on the Board than on a problem which is concurrently posted elsewhere.

In view of Bilb0's generous offer I will leave this thread open for the time being.

    Appreciate it!

    Pete,

I understand your feelings, and that's just it, a person in need of help, needs help regardless of where it comes from. How you get around the time commitment issue is getting everyone to contribute.

I myself am being an expert on many things, contribute to many boards. I am a member of over 500 boards so maybe that gives you a clue. Plus I live on IRC chat.

But when one or more of those board and/or methods can not respond, for what ever reason, then I must find help wherever necessary. I've found in the past, just to the nature of how people post, that a problem, to get an answer within less than 48 hours, needs to be posted on at least 10 boards. If not the person looking for an answer might have to wait more than 2-3 weeks to resolve a problem. Most of us looking for answers do so to solve problems not just out of curiosity.

All of us are busy, so getting fast answers is good, especially if we share them, by posting the answer, which is a practice I try to stay with, though being human, I sometimes forget to post a solution, until later, when reviewing my posts on a board.

Anyway thanks for the comment and the emotion, hope you understand my need and emotion driving "need an answer" is just as strong.

The 'smart' move would have been not to reveal that you had posted on other forums although we often find out via Google :) I only echo Admin's view on this.

Anyway I wish you luck in finding a solution.

I feel I should add my comments, though I fear you may not like them.

I was entirely put off by what I feel was an inappropriate "spin" you placed on this board’s posting requirements.

They do not charge to upload as you stated.
They seek contributions to support the site. Along with contributions come certain perks, among them, the ability to upload files as attachments. Regardless of how you spin it, that is not what I consider to be charging to upload.

I am the administrator of a Consumer Advocacy web site so I know about the costs involved, and I also know about the members who hop in and get something and then leave nothing in return.

In addition to that site, I am also a member of about 10 or 12 other computer help forums and yes, from time to time I need assistance. I understand others are not bound by my own practice, but I adopt for my self the same policy as when I camp out; “leave the site better than when I arrived”. To do this, I make it a practice to ask my question(s) and then proceed to try and help in other threads where possible. I appreciate the time it takes to help others in need and do not want to be a sponge.

With that in mind, it also put me off that rather than do as I suggested, you linked to other forums where there too, only 2 total posts from your ID exist.

Presumably, if you are as experienced as you claim, you are familiar with FTP and how to make use if it I consider it to be a jab at the staff and Administrators of this forum to have linked off to other sites which have different procedures, rather than simply upload to a generic FTP space.
Not to mention, probably possessing sufficient knowledge to pitch in and return some assistance where needed.

Your stated premise and practices seem solely to support you and your quests and if others are helped it is more by accident than by design. If you’re able to make that work for you, then more power to you. However, I have the practice that these help forums are much like the old BBS systems from the early days of the internet. Yes, you could download and yes you could get help, but you also had to pitch in for the benefit of the site as a whole. I don’t observe that same commitment form reading your last post.

Having made the offer to assist, I stand by that offer, but no, I am not a member of those other sites and I will not be signing up just for the pleasure of assisting you.
