The insertion bar that shows where you are moving an icon while dragging icons to a new location on my XP SP2 desktop has vanished. Does anyone have some idea of how this is controlled and how to turn it on again? Many thanks in advance.

rockpile - Welcome to the Board :)

I am not clear as to the nature of your problem and do not recognise the term 'insertion bar'. Do you have any custom desktop theme or software installed?

If you right click on the Desktop > Arrange icons by - which option is checked?

I use 'Align to grid' and the icon snaps to the nearest grid position when releasing the mouse button after dragging.
