Double click the speaker icon in the system tray and mute everything except cd audio. Actually, you can probably just mute wave and/or midi and I would think it would do the trick.

well steverjones, i spoke way to soon. i unchecked play sounds on web sites, and bellsouth games didnt get the message. i still get the slap, swish, of the card games!

tried to go to bellsouth help and tech support, and cant get pass 1st step im on cable on this machine, have dial-up with them, but son in law is on that(therefore i cant call them either) and i have shut down and when turned it back on didnt make any difference(worth a try).

she is turning into a mono-tasked machine rather than a multi-tasked.(come to think of it rather like me) i have a little sony cd player that i guess i use since it seems to be the only way that i can listen to music and play games.

talked to bellsouth and there is no way to turn off sound if you are playing on line,if you download(bought)game maybe you can control sound.
