    Hi all,

    I recently purchased a HDD on e-bay.

About every month or so I do a Norton Ghost of the entire contents of my drive c: across to this new drive d:

This process works fine, giving me a safety clone of my complete c drive.

Problem is I spent some money making my PC very quiet .........

    A whisper quiet PSU
Removing the Northbridge small heat sink and noisy fan and replacing it with a bigger HS
Replacing my noisy processor fan and HS and fitting a Zalmann copper 'flower' cooler
Placing my HDD in a sound absorbent box.

I only meant to get the quiet PSU, but after I had fitted that, I noticed the noise from everything else !!

The new (to me) Seagate drive is v noisy. I could of course go to the expense of another acoustic enclosure but .....

As I only use the drive around once a month is there a way to get it to spin down until needed ?
At present I open the PC, disconnect the power connector, re-connecting before my disc clone.

If anyone has any experience with this I would certainly appreciate some advice.

    Thank you.

    Norman Watkins

Why not try a removable drive bay?

    ;)
