Has anyone used this / tried MinimizeToTray?
Just converted my wife from Mozilla Suite. She liked the faster load via Quick Launch Moz Suite offered. The third option on the page has a option called
"Turbo option for Firefox and Thunderbird ". Does this option have FF/TB partially loaded into memory -or- it just keeps the icons resident (sysTray) all the time? I myself dislike QL, but on wife's old w98/300Htz it does have some benefits.

I never saw anything presented in such an obscure way. The way they say in the FAQ, this is QL for FF and TB. I think that what is done with TB may be important for people who have been so desperate to find if they got the latest spam message ( "For Thunderbird, compose new messages and view your Address Book while keeping it minimized all day to check for new mail. "
Since I try to use every build of every program on my computer, closing one, and going to another, I should be a big fan of QL, but what's the hurry?

Have to agree with you on "obscure ".
Reading on What's new page, the following one line phrase caught my eye ...
"turbo mode still has lots of issues ". So for now, I'll wait and watch.

    Dennis,
you are being wise to wait. I would proceed only if there is a clear way to uninstall the extention. Several extentions will not let you get into your FF, if something is awry.

That's one reason for Firefox's Safe Mode ... it opens FF without extensions, and allows you to uninstall any or all of them safely.

Start > Run > [path to] firefox.exe -safe-mode. Better yet, create a shortcut in case of emergency.

Thanks for the tip. I have understood what it was about. I am using FF in Safe Mode, now. I never took it too seriously, since all Extentions were grayed out. But, it seems to work fine.

Firefox and Thunderbird work quite well without any extensions installed. Extensions just provide additional features, some more useful than others. I know people who use no extensions, and I know of one person who has over 30 installed on FF.

BTW, Safe Mode (not to be confused with WinXP's Safe Mode) also works with Tbird ... same syntax: [path to] thunderbird.exe -safe-mode.
