trying to play mp3 in WMP error 0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file

    windows media player v9.
    I sawthis this post elsewhere but no solution. I tried the control panel and went down th hierarchy of clicking. to the point where it said the sound card was working properly. yet when I try to open an mp3 file I get an error message. i run a multi-boot and under ubuntu the file plays but i prefer windows. please help.

    Check that you installed the proper drivers for your sound device. If the sound is integrated to the motherboard go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download and install the chipset drivers or the separated audio drivers.
