I got a cheap PC but unfortunatly it came with Linspire, I was trying to remove the partitions which I believe I did using the "cfdisk" and then when I reboot with WinXp and it will try to self install..it gets part way into it then blue screens with an error message saying it cant continue to install.
Im presuming theres still Linspire crud on the harddisk. I cant get back into Linspire to see now as it cant find the partitions I removed..so Im stuck in an loop..any ideas how I can just wipe it all and install Winxp?

    Thanks for any advice!

Presumably you did not format the drive?

Suggestion -from my notes, as you have a partial install of XP on the drive ....

    Hopefully :)

The alternative is to boot from a Win 98 Start up disk, use FDISK to remove all partitions - this may not work as any partition remaining is probably not DOS - format and install XP.

If all the above fail determine the make of the drive, go to the manufacturer's website and download their disk utilities which should enable you to make a low level format.
