I have Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition, and it's DOS based obviously because it's so old. Well I can't get it to play on here. I can get it to the main screen, where you can choose a new game and what not, but then it locks up right when it gets there. Any idea what could be wrong?

W2k doesn't run DOS, but rather, a DOS emulator that doesn't exactly duplicate all DOS functions. Could be memory, sound, or other configuration issues. Easiest workaround (as long as the program's not on an NTFS partition) is to boot with a DOS floppy.

So that'd probably be the only way to play? Oh well.. alright, thanks!

Lee - booting to DOS is for sure the simplest but there are a couple other things you could try. May work or may not.

The game may require some environmental values to be set that aren't normaly on a 2K system. If you can find what it wants, you can try setting them.

The shortcut for a DOS based program can be set to run in a number of different ways. Some changes there might fix you up.

    win95/98

If you have access to a win95/98 based machine you could install the game and create a shortcut on it then copy the shortcut to your win2k box (making sure all the file locations are the same) I have seen great results running older programs that way and you get many more configuration options at the shortcut.
