Ok, I have a 350 MHz PII, 256 MB RAM, 8MB Video, and 7 GB HDD.

I know the minimum requirments for XP, all I'm asking is, does anyone know how smoothly or sketchy XP will run on my system. I have 2000 now, and it runs beautifully. Should I expect the GUI to slow me down heavily? Or will it run about the same?

I went from 2000 on an IBM box which is somewhat underpowered. PIII but only 128Mb memory, 4Mb video memory, and a few other problem areas. Leased PC at work so I can't make any hardware changes.

I have found performance of XP-PRO to be acceptible and nearly as fast as 2K was.

It runs a little better at home with an AMD of 1ghz (or so), 256Mb main and 32Mb video memory but not enough difference to cause shock when I get on the work system. Of course, I don't do any heavy-duty work with either machine (like CAD, huge spread sheets, etc.).

Your processor is somewhat slower but you have extra main and video memory to make up for it so my guess would be you will be OK with performance.

If you have a desktop system, I'd suggest turning off XP hibernation though to save disk space unless you really intend to use the feature.
