Running OE7 on Windows XP. In past week several problems:
Three or four times my Inbox has suddenly become empty. A message says Folder could not be displayed
Outlook Express could not open this folder.
    Possible causes are:
    Low disk space.
    Low memory.
Or, same thing happens but it says that something is wrong with View. Went to the View link on toolbar, found nothing there helpful.
In despair, closed down machine and rebooted. To my amazement, contents of Inbox reappeared. What is this about?
Then another problem for a few occasions. Wrote a message, clicked send, and received error message that it could not be sent. Tried it several times over a half hour, and then suddenly, off it went. What is that about?
Third problem concerns keyboard or Windows. Very abruptly, all the keys commence to give erroneous marks. Thus, 'a' becomes 'x' or '5' becomes 'q' and so forth. Nothing I can do to correct. Again, closed down and rebooted, and all ok. What is that one?
Appreciate whatever help you can provide.

    More trouble with Outlook Express

Just posted message, now a new and different problem. This is problem 4:
Running Windows XP with SP2, plus OE 7 on Windows 7 and Firefox 2.1. Was checking for new e-mail, and found four new messages, all arriving since the thread I just posted a few moments ago. All were labeled with sender and topic. Not one had any text. Area for message all blank. What is this about?
    thank you.

#4 - who sent the mail and are they prone to be short on words?

A couple of things you should do .....

Reregister OE and it's library files as detailled in this article .....

An Outlook Express Basic Repair Kit

This may also be relevant .....

All e-mail items may be missing when you start Outlook Express 6.0 Service Pack 1 or Outlook Express 6.0 Service Pack 2

Even if it is not I suspect corruption in the .dbx files .....

Make a new folder InboxOld - when the emails show in Inbox highlight them and drag them to InboxOld.

    Close OE

Search for Inbox.dbx - include Hidden files and folders and delete it. It will be recreated the next time you open OE. Drag the emails from InboxOld to Inbox and delete InboxOld.

    Repeat for Outbox.

As for the keyboard probably not connected with the OE problem - uninstall any software associated with the keyboard, remove in DeviceManager and reboot to reinstall. Reinstall any keyboard software.

If this fails to provide a solution try another keyboard.

Thank you all for your replies.
Will be working on this. In the meanwhile, until I have corrected problem, will repeat my McAfee program completely. Also it seems definite if I close everything and reboot, it opens in good shape. Nuisance but at least temporarily useful.
    Thanks, ALK
