I'm having trouble removing Microsoft Office Pro 2007
Here's a video of what is happening
    http://img532.imageshack.us/my.php?image=microsoftofficepro2007ppv0.flv
What can I do? I've done a couple of things like trying to install it again, but it doesn't want to and says that I need to remove a previous version of Office 12, or something which I think it what I'm trying to remove in the first place, and I've tried installing a 2003 trial and it just installs and doesn't need to touch 2007.
    Help?

    Hi shortie,

Don't know if you've seen or tried this but it's worth a shot.

How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928218

Let me know if this works out for ya'.

Additionally while you may want an msoffice suite that works, at least until you can figure out what's up with 2007 version, you may want to read the links below just for a little information that may save you from some future aggravation. Seems msoffice 2007 likes older versions to be installed in a specific order and fashion. May I reccomend that you hold off on the installation of additional versions until you can square away your current one.

    See and read links:
Describes an issue that occurs because earlier versions of Office are automatically removed when you click "Upgrade" in the "Microsoft Office 2007 Setup" dialog box
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924618/en-us

Discusses information about running multiple versions of Office with 2007 Office Suites and programs.

Please stick to the default font and colour. The small font you chose is virtually unreadable on some monitors, e.g 1600 x 1200.

    Hi again shortie,

 Disappeared? I don't know why. That happened pretty early in the instructions that Microsoft supplied. I'd continue on with the cleanup instructions and hope for the best. Ms office doesn't work now. You can't break whats already broken. Just please make sure you follow the instructions carefully and thoroughly. Most importantly, use the registry backup precautions that Microsoft also supplied prior to the removal of those hkeys.

When the time comes to try another install, make sure no other programs are running in the background that may interfere, antivirus programs in particular.

    Hi Shortie

Ann you have a way with words
    :)

Shortie she is so right. This one will have to be ripped by its guts!

If you don't get it all out you may have issues even re-installing it later!

    Here are the steps.

D/L and install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

This should only be used when a normal install fails and you have done all you can to normally uninstall. Never use this to uninstall a program first it is only for failed Add/Remove or other uninstall failure.

    1. Run it choose only the items that you can not uninstall normally and remove them.

    2. My Computer (explorer) browse to c:\Program Files and find the office folder and delete it. If it will not delete all then do this afer the reboot I direct below.

    3. Reboot

    4. D/L and install CCleaner: Clean temps and registry. Run both (temp and registry) repeatedly until no more found.

    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim

This should get rid of most remaining Office registry items.

    Hi mflynn,

I was hesitant in suggesting the use of Windows Installer Cleanup Utility for Ms office 2007. I read, in several places including MS, that the Installer Cleanup utility is not to be used with this particular version of office.
Reason: Supposedly doesn't remove or clear out enough. As you've stated the guts are going to have to be ripped out but this job requires you dive into the product up to the waste using your bare hands rather than the knife the cleanup utility provides. Do you think ccleaner will catch and clear out all those registry hkeys? That was a bit worrisome.

    Hi Ann

Yeah I read that also, they say that but they give no real fix for clearing it out.

I have had to do this before.

Ccleaner should get most of them. If he still has issues then Regseeker Find in Registry (Microsoft Office) would finish it.

In a seperate post after he completed the above I was going to advise him to do a Regseeker search and then a Disk search including hidden, system for Microso*.* this would find a lot of Microsoft but he would only choose those that were clearly office related.

So I guess now I want have to post that as it is here.

Ann it looks like you ruined the suprise!:D

    Craap,
Sorry mflynn, since you have run into the problem personally and have done the cleanup, I will now take a backseat and let you drive. What do I know....I still use Office 2000....:) Never had a problem that a Normal.dot deletion didn't clearup.

    Okay, what am I doing?

I've finished that manual removal of Office 2007 except for finding the Uninstall String, which I think was the main problem. It's 4d in the link.

EDIT: I've gone into Add/Remove Programs, tried to uninstall it, and it said it had already been removed, do you want to remove it from the list? and I clicked yes. and when I used Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, there was no trace of Microsoft Office! :). and I tried to use CCleaner, but the link is stuffed up

The information regarding not using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility for Office 12 (2007) was from when O12 was in Beta.

It is fine now to use it, we use it frequently.

    Shortie,
I can't tell from your posts if you've already tried it, but if not, I would use it first and then CCleaner as mflynn suggested.

I think it's removed because it's not really anywhere, Add/Remove Programs, Program Folders, Start Menu, etc.

Thanks for all the help everybody :)

    Hello once again,
While mflynn still had a couple of other garbage clearout procedures for you to run through, I am curious if your soul purpose was in the removal of this product or did you plan to reinstall? If a reinstall was intended please be sure to let us know what the final outcome of that was. Just curiosity on my part. :D

I needed some space on my computer, and I found out about OpenOffice. But if you want me to try and reinstall 2007, I will have an attempt...

No, for heavens sake, don't do so because I'm curious. If your happy with the cleanup and OpenOffice meets your needs, then there's no reason to go poking the tiger. While I've never tried OpenOffice others on the board have and were quite happy with the result. Hope all works out well. Thank you for the update and your most welcome for any small part I contributed to this post. :)
