When I try to print from a web page, I get a script errer. Exp script error line 103 Char 2 error expected code 0 URL//Clardows/system32\shadock.dll/preview.dlg.

Anybody know how to change my settings to get it to print because I think that's why it does it. It does it from all internet sites.:(

    Hello ant,

W/O knowing what version of IE or the OS you have, can't suggest fixes.

Can suggest a work-around: Select portions of the page by highlighting and copying/pasting to word - wordpad - notepad and printing from there.

Or all of the web page you want to print thru the IE toll bar > edit > select all, then > file > save as type > PRINT or html or htm > save to a folder and print from there.

    Regards - Charles

I really have no idea if this will help or not but from the error message you're getting my first guess would be to check your printer driver settings for an option for something like preview before printing (or some such thing). If it's there and it's checked, uncheck it. What kind of printer is it?

One more thought. Are you clicking file>print preview and then print? If so, try just file>print.

Just for kicks, press Control and P to print a page. Thinking maybe there is an error in the toolbar???

Zander is right (Duh, he always is!) if you have a print preview option, shut it off. And the tried and true step one of troubleshooting : uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot (Or URRR, as I call it) Other thing- did it work before and just quit, or is this the first time you tried to use it with this system?

I'm wondering if you want a hard copy print or just a record of the page for your files? Also, does your printer work okay through other apps, like Word or Outlook? Is the printer the problem, or if IE is messed up? Have you checked printer drivers and settings? Is it a USB printer? What kind of printer is it?

    Other workarounds:
    pdf995
    and FinePrint

I have a ridiculously expensive version of Adobe Acrobat that does well, with all the bells and whistles. I've played with both of these programs, and they do as much, or more, and they fit my budget.

Post back, and we'll try to help.

I don't really know what to say about this. You could try running the system file checker or maybe reinstalling IE. Instructions are here.
    http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/howto-03.html
Guess I'd hold off on reinstalling IE a bit and see if anybody else can come up with something. Printer problems!!!! They can be tough.

Found this at MS. It may or may not apply (the line number isn't correct) . If not I'd try disabling third party browser extentions in IE's options anyway. I see a lot of references to this in regard to printer problems in IE and OE.

    Ant,

One more thing to check. See if the JScript version is 5.6 - look for JS56NEN.EXE

Is this a new printer by any chance? If not, when did this start?

    Regards - Charles

    Hi ant,

You mind as well update the js script - I don't know why you can't find it. If you have the correct version, no harm done.

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F6-249C-4A72-BFCF-FC6AF26DC390&displaylang=en

However, prior to your doing so, create a manual System Restore point. If you don't know how, type System Restore into the Help applet in the control panel. Lots of info: where it is - how to operate it, etc.

There may be some steps found in here that may also fix your problem:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q281679

Note* one of the symptoms is for a printing [preview] problem. In any case, most of these TSteps should not be hurtful and may help [Possible exception is ie6wzd hotfix].

Use "Proper Registry Backup Cautions" if you should decide to edit a reg hkey/value. [Any questions on the How-To, just append to post]

Use your own best judgement based on your comfort level. I can't double check those reg keys for accuracy since I'm not on a computer with XP at the moment [win98se].

Here's a link to IE printing gotchas in a variety of flavors:

    http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/ieprintg.htm

Have a look and see if something in here helps. Some of these fixes involve an option setting, either the printers or IE's, and only take a second to check. They're easy to do and undo, at will.

    " "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" "" " "
Scriptly speaking, "Kill de bug grrrrrr ":
You may want to turn off your debug feature or IE's script error reporting , at least temporarily, then try the printing and see what happens. Just between you and me, I am still stumped when it comes to these debug errors. I have better luck at understanding a standard windows error or recognizing the problem through descriptions of "what happened" after "trying to do" something.

Sometimes having the debug feature turned on will turn up a different result and/or error then what is normally seen or understood by us "tech-challenged common folk ".
