I keep getting an error message right in the middle of composing an e-mail in Netscape. The error is that Netscape has performed an illegal operation and of course when I click ok it shuts down Netscape and then I have to restart it again, restarting the computer or restarting Netscape does not take care of the problem. Can anyone give me any clues as to why all of a sudden this is going on.

    Welcome to the Forum, darla46!

    Darla,

Can you give us the error you're receiving. Just the first part that usually gives the module where the error occurs. Try these workarounds and see if they help:

First: Exit Netscape and Quick Launch
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your Profiles folder
    Back up your Profile folder

Open your Mail Account folder and delete ALL files with an "MSF" extension
Do NOT delete folders WITHOUT the extension, as these files contain your mail

If no joy, then try this:

    Open Netscape Mail & Newsgroups
Highlight your Mail Account(s) and select: View Settings for the Account(s)
Highlight the Mail Account(s) and select: Remove Account

Exit Netscape, then reopen and recreate the Mail Account(s)
Once you recreate the Account(s) ensure that the Local directory field points to the correct location on the HD. The Local directory setting is located here: Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings.

The Mail Account you created will have a -1 in the Mail Account name:
E.G., mail.yourisp-1.net. You will want to point the new account to the account without the -1.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.
