I have the free AVG virus scan because ezTrust antivirus would not respond to my repeated requests for support. So much for them.AVG is reporting I have a virus Trojan-Startpate.7.ac in a C:\System Volume Information\_restore{blah-blah-blah}\blah\A000659.exe file and I should run their software to delete it . I do. It doesn't.
Question: how or can I FIND this darn exe file and delete it myself? I made the system files visible in Explorer options to no avail.
THis is XP Pro, recently purchased. Merci beaucoup.

The virus is in your system restore files. To get rid of it, turn off system restore. Right click on my computer>properties>system restore. Turning it off will delete all of your restore points. After you've turned it off, don't forget to turn it back on again.
