If that is the only file, boot the computer with a startup floppy with it's write tab to disable. Then type this in at the prompt:

    del C:\PROGRA~1\ACCESS~1\EXPL32\v.exe <enter>

Please note the backslashes. This will delete the file. You will see an error message 'a file cannot be found' at windows startup. The instructions on how to stop the loadup of this file is on Daizy's link, substituting the name of the file.
    Good luck!

    Hi
Thanks for your replies. There is one more problem, my friend is using windows 2000 and I use windows 98. He does not have a start up floppy and I am not sure if my win98 disk would help. Is there any way of getting or downloading a start up disk for win2000
    Thanks again
    Lewis

You can make a start-up set of 4 from the 2K CD. If you decide to, do it from your (hopefully clean) PC. You don't need to be running 2K but just to have the CD.

HOW TO: Create Setup Boot Disks for Windows 2000 - Q197063 .

But they won't do what you want really. They don't start the PC as a 9X boot disk will but simply start the 2K install routine. Although you can get to the recovery console from there and it looks/feels quite a bit like a normal DOS prompt.

If the 2K PC is using NTFS, that is what you will have to do.

If it is using FAT, you can boot to DOS from a 98 disk and deltet the file from there. You could boot the PC even if it uses NTFS but you wouldn't be able to find/delete any files.
