When you download the files for the free scan from TM, do they cause any conflict with current AV programs that you have running on your computer? Do they remain behind? If so, how do you remove all traces from your system? Is it worth the effort to have a free online scan from time to time?

    Don't have an exact answer.

I tried it once & gave up after 1 hour of downloading of files.

I think you can be assured that there is no conflict - the Malware & Virus Removal guys regularly request that an online scan be done once a computer has been cleaned up.

As far as Kapersky online is concerned - yes the files remain, but can be removed through Add/Remove Programs - check out there for Trend.
Probably not if you have no issues, but if it gives you peace of mind go for it :)

Thanks. I "thought" I had an issue but it turned out to be an advertisement that somehow masked itself as though it were a virus, telling me my box was infected. I've since done a thorough scan with McAfee (which is scrupulously kept up to date) and found that I'm fine. Anyway, I appreciate the help.
