    Hi.
Due to another problem I need to back up my outlook mailboxes, rules and accounts to I can transfer them back once I have reinstalled Windows XP.
I have read the sticky about transfering Outlook Express, is Outlook 2003 the same?

    Many thanks

The Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard allows you to save or restore preferences and other user configuration settings for Office 2003 applications. This file consists of a snapshot of an Office user configuration containing registry settings and other related files. These settings are saved in a profile settings (OPS) file stored locally or on your network. Beginning with Office 2003 there is no option to save your profiles to the Internet. Important If you save an Office user configuration, the .ops file is not created by the Save My Settings Wizard until you click Finish. Likewise if you restore a user configuration from an .ops file, the target computer is not updated until you click Finish. Note The Save My Settings Wizard saves only user options that have been changed from their default values. For example, if you set the Microsoft Word Allow fast saves option, but you do not change the Always create backup copy option, the Save My Settings Wizard saves only the Allow fast saves setting to the .ops file. (Source - this page also lists what is and is not saved)

If you upgraded from Office XP Pro to Office 2003 Pro, also take a look at this MS knowledge base article.

    Thanks Miz,
I saw that article on Microsoft's site but as usual I read it 10 times and was still none the wiser about what it backed up and what it didn't!
I have loads of mailboxes, mail accounts and rules, so I wanted to be sure.
I backed up my Outlook 2003 yesterday using Outback Plus and restored today. It set up my new outlook exactly the same as my old one so I would recommend it to anyone wishing to transfer Outlook to another/same PC.
The only problem were my rules - which are now all labelled 'run on other machine' so I would advise anyone to export and import them into the new Outlook separately if you do not want to edit each one afterwards
