Hello and man am I glad I found this place.. I think...

    History of my problem.
I am transfering my netscape settings from a win 98 computer to a new win XP computer... I have been able to transfer the address book and the book marks and now I would like to transfer the Mail folders to the new computer

I had been using netscape 7.1 on the old machine and want to use mozilla on the new. I have set up 2 profiles and I think I only need one

I found this page from a google search..
    http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns7pctopc.html
and followed the directions as best as I could however was unsuccessful. ... I am transfering by disk.. and the file was too large ... so I then tried to reduce the size of the file by selecting single files .. but got lost when trying to reinstall on the new computer...

I wonder if this would be easier to do .. if the two were networked.. I have purchased the equipment and it has arrived .... but I was trying to finish this before starting another project... (and learning curve...)

If some one could help walk me thru this I would appriciate it...

Debra feeling alot more beginner at this than when I started.

    addendum

well now when I log in there are no profiles.. on the mozilla..
this is strange.. a few times I would open mozilla and it would say default profile in use. . . and to create another. I figured this was because I had netscape mail open..

So I created a new profile so I could open the program... now the only profile is the default ... and it acts like it wants me to set it up from the beginning.. as if I had never used it before..

    Welcome to the Forum, Debra!

    Hi Deb,

You said you were using Netscape on the Old PC, and wanted Mozilla on the new. However, you said that you had Netscape Mail open on the new PC? Do you have both Mozilla and Netscape installed on the new PC? You shouldn't share a Profile between Mozilla and Netscape. This is what Netscape tells us:

Do not share a profile between Netscape and Mozilla browsers. Doing this can lead to unpredictable results, which may include loss of Search settings, preferences, and unchecked growth of the Bookmarks file (large enough to freeze your system). It is best to create a new profile for each, or manually copy (and change the name) of an existing profile.
On the new PC, you must first set up your Mail & Newsgroups Account before you can copy Mail files from the old PC to the new.

Once you set up your Mail Accounts, then copy the Mail files WITHOUT the MSF extension. If you have already received Mail in the new Mail Account, then rename the Mail files on the OLD PC before copying to the NEW PC. Otherwise you will overwrite the existing Mail files. Name them something like OLDInbox, OLDsent, etc.

    Ramona :D
