Now have new computer and using IE plus Outlook Express for email. Need to know how to transfer address book & messages from Netscape to Outlook Express.
New computer has Windows XP, CD RW, 3.5 in. Floppy.
Old Computer Windows 95, Netscape 4.76, CD but not RW, 3.5 in. floppy.
Any suggestions will be welcomed. Attempts so far have failed.

    Thanks venny

Oops, usually I got questions about transfer from others for NS Address...

You will have to check if Outlook Express has importing function...

    Ramona might have better solution.

    Hey Stranger!

So... you are abandoning Netscape on the cusp of a newer, faster, more streamlined browser? <sigh> :(

If you must, then this is how to import your email to OE:

In Outlook choose to import Communicator email and when prompted for the location, give it the location of your 4.76 mail directory. I don't use OE so I don't know the exact procedure. At any rate, the INBOX in Communicator is the same type ascii text file without an extension.

    Cheers!

Ramona: Thanks for the quick response. Yes I decided to join the masses & go with the flow. Headaches abound. I enjoyed trouble free months with Netscape 4.76 after diligently using your tips on my overloaded out dated desktop.
    Now for present problems.

Did not try transferring messages yet. Started with address book as small & thought if successfull then messages should follow. Well no luck with addresses. Transferred data but not in proper format.

Where do you suggest to go to find assistance equal to yours. Recall I use Navigator 4.76.

    Thanks Venny

    Try this:
    1. Export address book from NS 4.7x as LDIF file:
    -open Messenger Address Book
    -Click File: select Export
    -save as Type: choose LDIF
-save it with any name (abook.ldif is fine) in an easy-to find location on your hard drive or even on a floppy disk.

    2. Import the file you just saved as abook.ldif to the Outlook Express address book:
-open the OE (windows) address book
-Click File: select Import, select Other address book
    -Choose LDIF
    -find the abook.ldif file
