TouchPad Problem

    Hi...
    The touchpad was working properly on my laptop HP Pavilliondv 6000..all of a sudden the mouse got stalled and the synaptics icon is not even showing in the tray.
    I unistalled and reinstalled it from add/remove but again it is not working...
    I can use a USB mouse but not the touch pad.
    Under control panel/mouse/nothing is showing under the device settings..and under Buttons only other point devices is showing in the drop down..

    Help appreciated...
