I've used desktops since the Commodore 128, but I just bought my first laptop, a HP Compaq Presario. I have a touchpad question, and it probably just involves a setting I am ignorant of.

Often, but not always, I think, when my touchpad arrow is just hovering over something like the "close" button at the top of a window or a link on a web page, the touchpad acts like I have clicked and goes ahead and performs the function, even though I have not clicked or tapped.

I have set sensitivity to low and turned off the "tap to click" function, so I do not think it's just a sensitivity issue, that I am inadvertently tapping without knowing it.

So is there a "clicks when hovering" setting I can turn off, or what?

    Thanks.

I've been here too...Pretty sure that when you use the touchpad to move the pointer over a close button for example, it counts that action as one click. Touching the touchpad again counts as the second click. This is one of the main reasons why I use an external mouse when using lappies.
