Have just bought a new Toshiba Satellite A10, and was using it to burn cd's and watch dvd's perfectly. Travelled with it from NZ to Australia, and since then it won't work. Apparently the device çannot star'(code 10)'. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated in the matter.

    Thanks a lot,
    jen*

A Google search for 'device cannot start (code 10)' brings up some useful hits.

One thing you could try is to remove the drive in Device Manager and reboot to let Windows find it again. Sounds like you may have done this.If this does not work it may be a hardware issue as described in one of the hits on Google. Maybe it got a bump en route to Oz.

If it is new try Toshiba.

I have some "tries" for you.
Remove the drivers in Device Manager. Shutdown. Physically remove (disconnect) the drive....a removable drive right? Do a full boot to Windows. Shutdown. Reconnect the drive. Reboot.

If this does not work, try removing the IDE controller for that drive.

If that does not work, see if there are update chipset drivers for that machine ...and...try it all again.

    Luck
    Matt
