Torrent Files [Utility for opening]

I seem to be a few years behind the times but I wanted some NA maps for a GPS device and found them via a torrent file. I downloaded the torrent file but have no idea how to initiate the download of the maps from the various sources. Apparently I need a BitTorrent utility. Can anyone recommend a good program to use in WIN XP and tell me how to proceed with the torrent file to get the maps? Thanks.

 

The GPS unit is self contained that takes a 2GB card for addtional storage if I need it. I was going to use a different GPS program on the unit than the one originally loaded, so the unit has to be hacked. Apparently this has been done successfully by some people in GB. But I have to load North American maps and they can be obtained using Torrent files, about which I know nothing. That is the reason for my post.

 

For downloading torrent files I'd use Azureus which can be obtained by going here... http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php
