I am getting a message: "We will let you know when the upgrade is ready to install on y]this PC." I was under the impression (from all the hype) that today was the upgrade day. I will be leaving for a short vacation in the north woods (where I do not have internet connections) and wanted to use the time to get to know Windows 10. What's the deal?

Update: I for got to mention the little window in the taskbar is no longer appearing.

Hi jshaw42. Microsoft is still in the process of pushing out Windows 10 so its probably going to take a bit longer for the upgrade to be available for all Windows 7 and 8 computers that are ready for the upgrade.

Thanks for the quick response. I kind of figured it would not be instantaneous. I just hope I can get it on my laptop before I leave for the land of no connection.

The downloads are 'staggered', so it could be a few days (or weeks) before you get it.

Thank you all for your generous contributions. However, I may not have been clear in that there is no longer the windows icon showing in the notification area. This occurred after a minor update to Windows 8.1. Am I now unregistered for the upgrade?

You don't mention what your current OS is. If the Icon has gone from the Systray it may be due to MS updates getting you ready for the install.
Have a look in your Installed Updates and see what the KB for the latest is. Then check and see what it's for. Neil.

Thanks retiredlearner (I happen to be in the same category). I did actually mention the OS being Windows 8.1. I did not mention 64 bit. The latest update was 7/29/2015 - KB3055343 and KB2976978, Plus Defender updates.

I have upgraded one of my laptops. So far, I am pleased, unimpressed, but pleased. Once I get it down, I will probably upgrade my desktop. It will probably take some time for my wife to upgrade her laptop, since she doesn't take to any change in her life easily.

Right above your original post there is a menu heading Thread Tools if you click on it you will see a drop down menu.
