I know that as a rule TMP files can be safely deleted.

I've found several big tmp files in the Windows folder, and in the system32 windows sub-folder.

These are very sensitive directories, and I am afraid to delete the files, before hearing a real expert's advice.

The filenames are: 000001, set3, set7 and config.

    TIA,
    haim

They should be OK to delete. But just to be safe, leave 'em in the Recycle Bin for a day or two.

Another idea is to create your own Temp directory, or whatever else you want to call the folder, move files that you think are safe to delete into this folder, and then wait a few days to make sure that everything is operating as it should be before deleting them completely. In this way you don't have to worry about yourself or someone else with access to your computer inadvertently emptying the Recycle Bin only to find out later that you did need one or more of the files you were storing there.

    HTH. :D

Thank you both, Brett and Rod. I've just done what Rod suggested. I have indeed a folder which I call "backups ", and I have even a copy of it in my Send To folder, to make it easy to move there files that I am unsure to delete. When I remember (generally after several weeks), I delete the files permanently.

    Thanks,

    :p
