My emails show up with a square enclosing a red dot instead of the graphic. Where is the setting for this?

Is this mail that you receive? All of them? Have you tried to send an email to yourself with a graphic included?
In some cases I don't get any images, but no square with red dot. In such case I get to see the images if I click on the See Images button. Do you have Flash installed?
I have never seen such problem in TB, but I did see it in Outlook Express. And, flash for IE was missing.

    tenbob,

See if this solves your issue:

    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_in_messages_do_not_appear

    EDIT: 10:00 pm
I did want to add, that if you don't have images blocked, I would enable this setting: "Allow remote images if sender is in: Personal Address Book "

Note that it IS recommended to block remote images in e-mail. By doing so spammers, and even the legitimate ad/marketers won't know that you have read their messages.

I have another twist on this problem. I frequently conclude my emails with a graphic of my signature and, occasionally (usually after Tbird has been open for awhile), I get the box with the red dot, rather than the signature.

Usually, when that happens, I send the message to myself before sending it to the intended recipient, just to check it, and the signature always appears properly in the received email.

This also sometimes happens with images I include in, rather than attach to, a message. In a nutshell, the box with the red dot appears only in messages that I send, never in messages that I receive. Closing Tbird and re-opening it usually solves the problem.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

I finally fixed the problem with the option checked "Do not show graphics from addresses not in myaddress book" Then I am careful to include those addresses I want when the box appears.

    Has worked every time sin
