    TB newest version, Vista.
    I just encountered strange problem.
When I click on email link from any web page, compose windows opens, but when I try to insert any image, it appears as empty box with red dot in upper left corner.
When I compose email to the very same address from within TB, the image appears as it should.
    What the heck gives?

Let's see if I understand this. 1.You click on an e-mail link, and the address appears correctly, but you can't insert an image (how by the way?).
2.You open the compose window, and write down the same address. Everything is the same up to here, right? And then you enter a subject (or don't, it should not matter). Write down some text, and then you want to place some image, and it works. Same way of placing an image?
I know of only one way which works. Using the icon next to the smilies you select an image which is on you hard drive. I may be wrong, but I can't think any other consistent way.

This is exactly what I'm doing.
I can insert, but it appears as empty box.
Proceeding exactly same way in both cases:
    - email link from web site
    - email to the same address from within TB>Write

I saw similar post on the net, no solution, though.

Broni, I tried what you have been doing and got the same red dot. However the picture is actually there. You can verify this by two methods:

    1. Insert a image into the e-mail and send it to yourself. You should see the image in the downloaded e-mail.

    2. Insert a image and then "Save" the e-mail, this puts the picture into your "Drafts" folder. Open the TB application then open the e-mail you saved to drafts. The image should be there. Send the e-mail from drafts to whomever.

I am therefore assuming that you could just insert the image and send and it should be there.

Edit: I tried it from a couple of web e-mail links and it worked fine.

    Thanks John.
I didn't mention it in my post, but I checked what you just said, before I posted.
That's fine, but I still would like to know, if there is any fix for initial problem.

I did a test, and had no problems. I attached, inline, a photo, and an animated emoticon. The photo looked great, but the emoticon was supposed to be animated, was not.
I did not send the attached images, but I could see them. I used the Image|Choose file.
    Could it be the website?

    broni, and JohnB,

Under View | Message body as: did you select Original HTML

This may, or may not make a difference.

I posted at Mozilla forum, and they solved my problem.
    It's a known bug.
In TB, Tools>Options>Advanced>Edit Config, and add new boolean entry:
network.protocol-handler.expose.file, and set it to True.
    Works like a charm

Thanks for the update, and the solution to the problem. The guru's on the MozillaZine Forum are certainly more knowledgeable when it comes to bugs!
