I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 and receiving digests from a work-related listserv. The digests are in HTML and display fine however, when I open one of the items (attachments) it opens in Notepad and with no format and RAW HTML. If I save the digest email to the desktop and open it with Outlook both it and the contained items open fine. Am I missing an add-in or something for Thunderbird.

    Welcome to the Forum, chryselwood!

    chryselwood,

In Thunderbird, click on: Tools | Options | Attachments
Next, scroll down to "Download Actions ", and click on the "View & Edit Actions" tab

Is there a listing for HTML, and if so, what is listed for the File Type, and Action?

Thanks for the reply. There is no action assigned for either html or eml attachments on my system. I have actions defined for TXT (notepad), XLS (Excel), DOC (Word).

    chryselwood,

In View, have you selected: Display attachments inline
Also in View, have you selected: Message body as | Original HTML

If Firefox is your default browser, then select Firefox as the application to open HTML files. In Windows XP this can be done in Windows Explorer:

Click on: Tools | Folder Options | File Types
Scroll down to the HTML File Type

In the Action field, enter: open
In the "Application used to Perform Action" field, enter:
    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 3.01\firefox.exe" -requestPending -osint -url "%1 "

In Windows Vista see this page:

I have no Actions listed in view and Edit Actions. However, I have no problem in viewing pages, although there is, often, an .eml attachment. The attachment duplicates the text, and is of any use, only, if I wish to store the file.
I don't use Outlook, and, at this point I don't see any .eml file on my computer, to test.

    Westside,

I don't have any "Action" in an established File Type either. Since chryselwood stated: "There is no action assigned for either html or eml attachments on my system." Then I gave her the instructions for creating a new HTML File Type, with Firefox as the application to be used.
