Any ideas on why normally messages received and/or sent have both the time and date information in the header bar, but sometimes only the times shows.

Hello Cal, for messages received/sent in the current day only the time shows. For messages one day or older both the time and date are shown. Don't have any explanation why other than that is the way TB is.:)

I am not aware of any tweaking that will allow both the time and date to be shown in the current days messages. Perhaps someone else with more knowledge of the workings of TB will chime in. (Ramona, Westside??)

The type of date display has been around since, at least, NS7.x, and continued in all suites, and standalone.
The same question has come up over the years, repeatedly.
As a rule of thumb, if only the time is displayed, it happened in the past 24 hrs, or less. Waiting one day, the display will change to include the date.
What I say is the same that the captn's link, and JohnB say.

    The link I posted:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Date_display_format

Gives instructions on changing the date display in the DATE COLUMN but does not seem to have any effect on how the date is displayed in the individual message headers.
