I have been fighting now for month trying to keep my folder views form changing from the standard view to Thumbnail views.

I did go to Tools - Options - Folder Option View - and made sure that "Remember eac h folders's views" was checked.

I notice that this problem does not occur within Windows Explorer where I have the view options set for Details but when I go to a folder that I have created which I named "My Pictures" (on physicall drive D:\ and set the individual folders within this folder, ie Digicam Pictures, Senic, Cars, etc to the Standard Folder Icon View the next time I come back to it all the pictures within these folders are displayed as "Thumbnails "?

Any help sure will be appreciated as maybe there is a registry hack or somthing else I am doing worng on this end.

Thanks So Much,

John - try doing the following. If it doesn't work then I'm pretty much out of ideas.

    Using Windows Explorer

Make a new folder called something besides "My Pictures" which is sort of a special/reserved name with XP and will do strange things. Lets use Pics as an example.

Copy the existing pictures into Pics.

Set the view on Pics to suit yourself (details, list, whatever).

Go into Tools~Folder Options~view and make all the settings there to suit yourself. Change at least one setting. Then click OK.

    Exit windows explorer.

When you open it back up (or open the folder by any method) you should see exactly the way you left it earlier.

    Hi Newt

Thanks so much for the reply. Tried what you recommended and it made no difference.

I also tried deleting the file within each subfolder of My Pictures which is labeled "##picat" which also didn't make any difference?

Sure wish I could get to the bottom of this situation. What's so odd is I can go through all the folders and change them to "Icon" View and then go right back and it holds but later on they always revert back to the "Thumbnail" Views?

I have tried both the standard desktop and classic desktop protocol and this alos made no difference.

    Thanks So Much Again:confused:
