Just got through reinstalling Vista Ultimate 64 on a friends computer, now when I set folders that have pictures in them to Thumbnail view I get a generic Thumbnail on all of the pictures rather than a Thumbnail picture of the .jpg like XP has.

I've tried every option available with no joy, also same thing on the Desktop. This is logged in as Administrator.

I haven't played around much with Vista (diehard XP user) so have no idea if this is something that can be changed or not.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and a little OT is this also the way Windows 7 operates, thinking about going to it eventually since it seems to be an improvement over Vista.

BTW, I really appreciate this site, it's helped me out several times even though I mainly lurk (shame on me).

Open Windows Explorer (Computer) and press alt, then click Tools > Folder Options... > View Tab and make sure "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.

If it is already unchecked then im really not sure what the problem could be...

You could try http://www.ccleaner.com/ and check "Thumbnail cache" maybe that will get things working again?

Worked like a champ! Guess I'm so used to XP I never thought of looking under Folder Options in Vista.

Appreciate the suggestion, guess I'll give myself 3 swift kicks to my backside for not looking around more.
