    Oh, already a new version, at next years April. But is that wise to
    announce there is a new version coming, what is going to happen to the
    sales of pc:s and other devices that are supplied with the current OS
    from Micros~1? Win8 has been far from success, who is going to want it
    now, when there's a new, better(?), different version coming at next years
    spring. According to what I have read, the Start menu is coming back...From
    what I have heard/red, the absence of the Start menu, was the "improvement "
    that most annoyed users. At least I have heard about it over and over again,
    and the 3rd party apps to fix the lack of it. Win8 sure has set back Micros~1
    and Windows by years, if not for good...

    Makes one wonder if the desktop computer is headed for the scrapheap with younger customers, as they are preferring portable machines instead.

    I imagine that, alone, is hurting Windows sales.

    Yes, as the chart above shows, PC sales have fallen off dramatically since the release of Windows 7. Windows 8 was supposed to reverse the slump but so far has failed miserably.
