oem XP pro windows attached computers have downgrade rights to win2000
so in the vent of a separated native license , a low cost FPP (retail) win2000 license at less than $30 in the auctions can become a viable windows option

My impression from using these is that they are basically XP lite and are still supported by MS with online updates
My my web browsing computer usage win2000 has been just as a satisfactory as using any other Windows version however has a higher requirement for 3rd party security related support programs such as an added firewall and one must use a non-explorer browser
The range of support programs for win2000 is less then XP Windows , however the programs avaliable appear very effective

    I personally used
    sunbelt firewall
    AVAST antispyware
Winpatrol (win2000 does not support msconfig)
    Malwarebytes
    Opera browser

win2000 sp4 (FPP) is currently installed on my recently acquired used 1.2GHz laptop using 256Mb ram memory for mobile internet access via nextG wireless broadband
Must be about 7 years old but still issueless with 90mins internet usage on battery power
Cost incl shipping $80 incl separately sourced OS

I ma interested in other user's experiences regarding win2000

    WIn 2000 is a really nice OS...Just a bit old...As you've seen - it runs well on older/slower machines.
