    How are you guys handling backups? With the proliferation of 130-200G drives as common place, what strategy do you employ to keep your data safe?

    I keep 2 partitions, one for programs, and one for data. All data goes onto the data volume. This easily fits onto a CD-R, and i use that as my backup strategy.

    I have a 140Gig HD broken into 4 partitions.
    C=Primary, OS, Cabs.
    D=Data, programs i dont want to put on C, Utilities, Zips, System Drivers.
    E= Downloads, new stuff i havent got to yet.
    F=Games.

    Works good for me. I backup the entire HD using Acronis to an external
    firewire HD.

    Two drives - 120 Gb + 80 Gb heavily partitioned C-J and K - O.

    Personal/daily data on D: auto backed up every hour to a partition on the second HD

    C: Ghosted to External 120 Gb USB2 HD. ASR on second HD

    Image files - I am also a photographer - burned to DVD in addition to back up to external HD as below.

    Whole computer with the exception of C: backed up to the external HD weekly. Some files (financial) also backed up to floppy weekly.

    Belt, braces and a piece of string :D

    That's the way to go Pete.

    Two drives for me too with reciprical backups + burner. One difference - I run two OSes, each on their own drive, setting that up is how I got the 2 drive idea. I notice that DEll lately offers multiple drive options on their mid to upper level systems.

    Regards - Charles

    What kind of data in what kind of situation. My computer is a home computer. Most of my data is multimedia. Once I have it burned to something, it is backed.
