A few days ago I posted because my computer was dialing into the internet when OE was open. I changed the setting from connect only when NOT working offline. I don't think that was the original setting, but I changed it to Do Not Connect. Everything seemed to be fine. Today I came home and went to use the phone and I was connected to the internet, but I knew I had disconnected before I left. Here is an excerpt from my modem log:

    07-06-2004 11:47:58.24 - Session Statistics:
    07-06-2004 11:47:58.24 - Reads : 437231 bytes
    07-06-2004 11:47:58.24 - Writes: 50835 bytes
    07-06-2004 11:47:58.24 - Aceex DM-56V14 Internal Voice Modem closed.
07-06-2004 12:46:58.92 - Aceex DM-56V14 Internal Voice Modem in use.
07-06-2004 12:46:58.93 - Modem type: Aceex DM-56V14 Internal Voice Modem
    07-06-2004 12:46:58.93 - Modem inf path: ACEEX5~1.INF

I was not home from 12:35 til after 3pm. No one else lives here or would be coming into my house to use the computer. Any idea what is going on? I have updated and run my AVG, Spybot, Ad-Aware and HiJackThis within the past couple of days and things should be pretty clean. This is weird.

Hi moonpie, I know you're not in Canada but here is a link to my ISP that has some info about "Modem Hijacking" and what they are prepared to do about it. May or may not apply to your situation.
    Link

Suggest you check your telephone bill and see if there are any unusual charges on it for call made to strange (unknown to you) area codes.

Good luck and let us know if you find out what the problem is.

    Hi moonpie. :)

Have you run a system scan with RAV? I recommend you do.
