I downloaded a software titled CCleaner free version.
On its first run, it informed me that 1997 files were
no longer referenced to any particular software title
installed in my computer. I deleted as instructed all
    the named 1997 files.
However, each and every other session of my computer,
and running CCleaner, program informs me that I have
    1997 files for deletion!!!
Is this a ploy by CCleaner to incourage me to purchase
the full program at £19.95, enabling me to delete the
1997 files or do I have a multitude of 1997 files that
requires to be deleted at each session of my computer.
Members comments on this topic will be most appreciated.

I stay away from such "optimizer" programs. Just use Windows Disk Cleanup: All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.

    CCleaner FAQs:

Do I need to be an administrator to run CCleaner?

Ideally yes. Although you can still run this as a normal or restricted user, however, some files may not be deleted.
