Lately I get a Thermal Shutdown on my Dell XP. It usually happens after I run windows Media Player but not always. Tomorrow I will go get some Canned Air and see if I can clean the dust in the CPU.

Other than having to solder on the inner workings...
my other fear is ARE THERE are any bugs that cause this?

Every week I run Spybot, Spyware Blaster and CC Cleaner.
    That is everything I know.

    Hi flatfoot.

Clean the CPU first before doing anything else.

If the problem still persists, post in malware forum.

Check the air intake vents around the case (they should be at the front).

If you haven't done so recently, check for updated drivers for the major hardware (chipset, graphics and audio). Use the Service Tag to get the hardware configuration.

Do you know what your temps are? You may want to take a look at SpeedFan.
