Resolved there was a problem sending the command to the program

Hi folks,

System here is Win7 professional on 64BIT pc with Office 2007.

MS office 2007 both word and excel return this message when trying to open files by double clicking them. "there was a problem sending the command to the program "

The application opens but not the doc or worksheet file.
Once the application is open, if I close the error message and again double click the file it will then open ok.

A google search turns up pages and pages of fixes and I have spent days on this annoying problem with no luck. Some report that they have fixed the problem by xyz method but others have mixed results, seems like there is no real fix that works for everyone and no method I have tried has worked, including a complete re-installation of the office suite.

So the question I have in desperation before I turn insane, does anyone have a surefire fix ?

Thanks TonyT, yes, I have tried that a couple of times and many other fixes all to no avail.
In desperation I uninstalled the office suite and then removed every reference I could find to office in the registry then did a total fresh installation but the same problem is still there.

I've given up on it now like many others have....so I will mark is as closed..

I have Windows7 Pro SP1 64bit and MS Office Professional 2007 working without any problem.
If I open MS Word > click on Office button (top Left) > single click on Recent Documents > and the Doc opens.
If I go to Documents and select the Doc to open > Double click and it opens in Word.
Have you tried: When you open MS Word > Help > Detect and Repair? Neil.
