Hello all, I am a new user here. I know that I am not helping things alot by posting another thread about this Ceres stuff but, I think I am having the worst case of Ceres ever. Don't believe me? I has taken me 27 minutes to get this far b/c my computer is so slow. It is so slow, my cursor doesn't even blink anymore! I have downloaded a program called "Ad-Aware" and it found that I had over 127 tracking cookies...whatever those things are. I guess that you all can see that I don't know much about all of this stuff. I just run a virus program on my computer, but from what I found out from friends is that these things are not viruses. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my internet was slow, and my computer was getting that way also. Everytime I would get on the internet it would bring up this "Ceres" business. That is when a friend told me tp download Ad-Aware. I ran that and cleaned things up a bit, but it still runs slow. I then heard about hijackthis or something like that. I downloaded it, and that is as far as I got. It gave me this:

    Welcome to the forums

Im not sure if the aimbug is involved, it will not hurt to run the tool irrergaerdless.

    Download/save then run AIM Fix
File last updated on Feb 09 at 6:30 PM
    http://www.jayloden.com/AIMFix.exe
Restart the PC again, Post back with the aimfix.log
Your running Hijackthis from a temp and it still hasnt been unzipped, neither is a good idea.
Create a new folder, for instance C:\AntiSpyware
Download the exe from here to that new folder.
    http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe
This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong
Make and post a new log, dont forget the aimfix log.

    Hi

Please copy this to a text for referance

    Download Pocket Killbox.ver 2.0.0.76
    Or from here
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe
If you already have Killbox ensure its this version
    >>Unzip<< the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location.
Close all Browsers and programs that show in the windows taskbar
    Start KillBox.exe.
place a check next to "Delete on Reboot "
Copy/Paste (not type or browse) this file and path into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\WINDOWS\Ceres.dll

Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
    Click "Yes" the first promt
    Click "No" at the second
Repeat those same steps for each of these files one at a time.
    C:\WINDOWS\buddy.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll
    C:\DOCUME~1\VANDAL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\16.tmp.exe
    C:\DOCUME~1\VANDAL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\DB.tmp.exe
    c:\windows\system32\avnspril.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
    C:\windows\AMD.exe
    C:\windows\agrsmdel16.com
    C:\windows\Amazing Photo Editor.exe
    C:\windows\Analog Devices.exe
    C:\windows\AIM.exe
    C:\windows\AIM Toolbar.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\y4a9e.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\sdpblb.exe
    C:\windows\winstart32.exe

    Exit Killbox.

Start Hijackthis and place a check next to these items,
Close all browser windows and shut down all other programs that show in the taskbar. (even Folders) [WE do not mean stop the programs in the tray area near the clock]

    Hello

    Where did AVG7 go ?

To clear the added ranges and domains (O15 -'s)
Download this file to your desktop
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf
    right-click and select: Install
It realy doesnt install, just clears all sites in the domains and Ranges keys.

Afterward's you will need to immunize again in SpyBot and re-protect again with SpywareBlaster or re-install iespyadds, then the file itself can be deleted (DelDomains.inf)
