Please help, I have been recommended you guys as no-one else knows how to help me...

After trying Norton, McAfree etc I decided to try something different & came up with The Shield, it had excellent reviews & was an in dependant developer.

I had it set to automatically update virus definitions which apparently it wasn't doing & I ended up with a nasty Trojan Doppler virus that I can't seem to get rid of no matter how many times I scan or try to repair I come up with like 20,000 infected files each time...

The biggest problem is that it seems to be blocking my Internet Explorer some way, I still have connection via a Wireless Broadband Connection, I can download emails, connect to MSN, download stuff from iTunes etc but can't open Internet pages, I get a DNS error message 'can't connect to server'...

I've tried re inputting all my DNS settings (have turned off automatically detect), I've tried opening dos but I can open the window with 'cmd' but can't type in it & then get a message that I'm trying 'an illegal instruction' & then it closes down, I've tried scanning my hidden windows files to see if anything is damaged but it all comes up clean....

I don't know what else to try, I'm going crazy trying to fix this problem...

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I am actually posting this from work as I can't access the internet from home due to the problem...

I can't download any spyware or anti-virus software though I have 'netspy' the little ladybird one & it's not showing up any spyware...

I'm not sure how a 'hijack this' post works?

    Thanks again,
    Cactus

Read the info posted. You can download HJT from work, and put it on a floppy (only 213KB), possibly other software needed too (or else burn it on a CD, either from work or from a friend).

There's no use tackling any problems until we're reasonably sure your system is free of malware.
