I have just recently noticed that folders of the type "nstmp-x" have begun showing up in my mail folder. "x" starts at "1" and runs sequentially upward. The mail in the folders appears to be mail that I have deleted from my trash folder. If these mail folders are temp why are they showing up ?

The folders can be deleted just as normal folders, but I have not been able to figure out when they are created. I thought that they might be created when I empty the trash, or exit netscape, or some such, but I have not been able to catch netscape in the act.

    Any help ?

    rong103,

When compacting a mail folder, Netscape Mail copies it into a temporary file named nstmp (or nstmp-x if necessary to make the file name unique) and then replaces the original with the new copy. It's really not supposed to leave the temporary files lying around. However, since it does, there is no problem with deleting those files.
