I have a TDK burner. Its a little more thana year old. It burns everything just fine, but all of a sudden it hasn't been reading CD-ROMs. It tells me that the disk is not formatted. Would I like to format it? Why is this. Should a new driver fix this or what?

Well keep in mind the that the cd and cdrw are actually seperate mechanisms in the drive.

It is possible that either 1 or the other can go out and the other continue to work.

Same with a cd/dvd either 1 or the other can go out and the other continue to work.

So it is unlikely that this is a driver issue.

My first choice here would be a good lens cleaner.
