I really can't figure out why Mozilla isn't thoroughly humiliated that the only browser that links inside each and every e-mail in T'bird launch NOT Firefox, but the dreaded IEx. That's almost as big a mystery as to what actually causes it. I'm sure Bill and all of his IE developers are HOWLING! I'm a HUUGGEE F'fox and T'bird fan, although I'm not possessed by the "Hate MS" demon. So, I'd really like to see this nipped in the bud.

With the exception of a few sites which are hard-coded to open IE, I never have a problem. Thunderbird1.5.0.9 and Firefox2.0.0.1. I never see IE!
If it happens all the time, then you have not properly selected FF as default. If it happens sometimes, please, give me the link.

I apologize. I don't how I forgot about a post I read somewhere about how to change the Program Access Defaults in Add/Remove Prog.

    Thanks,

    gplea,

That setting can also be done in Thunderbird:

    Tools | Options |General
Under Default Settings, enable: Make Thunderbird the default setting for Mail, Newsgroups, RSS

I think you are talking about on the left side of the add/remove window click on program access and defaults. expand the custom arrow and select your default browser and email program. You can also set other functions there.

I have had similar problems in the past and making these selections fixed the problem even though the defaults are set in the programs in question. You might also go to IE and uncheck the "Internet explorer should check to see if it is the default browser. Also do the same in Firefox.

My default is FF2.0.0.1, but I had, also 1.5.0.9, which I uninstalled, today.
Interestingly, a request to comment on the reason why I uninstalled FF came up. And, guess what it brought up? IE, indicating that the Mozilla site is hard-coded for IE. You can imagine what I told them about improvement.
Now, for the next trick, they may change default with a new installation. This happens with 3.0a2, known as Minefield, or Gran Paradiso. It does steal default.
I know that the new 1.5.0.10 does not steal default. Now, will FF2.0.0.2 do it? I don't care, because 2.x is my default, but I don't like the trend.

Well, you might wanna visit the Mozilla/T'bird forum and chk out my thread there. As you might guess, some of those guys get kinda touchy when ya talk trash 'bout their stuff, even if it's tongue 'n cheek. If it's not under gplea, it's under King Conga; but I think it's gplea.

I am not interested in reading any more of these one-sided replies, as I just came from posting at mozillazine.org|Firefox Builds.
To my understanding, it has something to do with Vista. I really don't get it why a 3.0a2 nightly steals default from a final version of Firefox, and that is good for "millions of users ", and an inconvenience to a few nightly users.
Just in case where is the Mozilla/Thunderbird forum?

Not sure what this addressed to. I will give an example of logical explanation at that site. I must be really thick. What does the last reply mean? That there is no difference between a final version and a nightly?
By the way neither 1.5.0.10pre nor 2.0.0.2pre steal default from 2.0.0.1.

I thought you were asking where the TBird forum is. It is on the Mozillazine page on the right side under forums.

There are many sub-fora at mozillazine.org. Still, I find it a waste of time to visit any of them. Many replies are touchy, and uninformative.

Plural of forum=fora. subfora, means different group in each category, like several categories under Firefox, Thunderbird, etc. If we got that, I was saying that many replies are touchy, i.e. people who are involved take it personally, as if I insulting the program. And, uninformative, because questions are not answered, on account of the reasons said before.
To make a long story short, I was agreeing with gplea.
