I have installed Thunderbird 3.0.1 and the instructions I see with respect to junkmail settings all say click on Tools | Junkmail - I do not have such an option in my Tools menu.

    Am I missing something
    Thanks

Thanks kimsland - I changed the settings for each mail account and have started to identify the junk.

Does mail that has previously been identified as junk get moved to the specified folder automatically or do I have to click on the Is Junk icon to move it? If it does not get moved on arrival then is there something that will do so?

I have written a rule for certain types of messages that is supposed to delete it from the server and not download it but they still come into my inbox. Any advice here?

    Thanks

I have set up my accounts to send all alleged Junk to Trash. I found this to be safe, because I, always, delete my trash when I close my mail, and, if there is something in it, I look at the contents, and, move the individual mail to the folder where it should be.
I get very little spam, as I trust my ISP Spam controls to do the job. 90% of my mail was spam, before I started using the ISP controls. Now, I got no more than 40 messages in three years. I can, easily live with it.
P.S.: There is a Junk button in 3.0.1. If you don't see one go to View|Toolbar|Customize drag and drop it in the proper toolbar. That wiil work for stray spam.

Bet that there something different about them. 1 little thing is all it takes. Making a junk mail folder is in my opinion a waste of time. Some people recommend Mail Washer as they say it does a good job. I can't remember the last time that I got any junk with my regular e-mail address. Now Hot mail and G-Mail yes. But of course if somebody wants my address before I can proceed any deeper, they get the Hot mail one. It and G-Mail do a great job of filtering spam.
