    Hi Ramona:

I had a strange experience with TB this morning and wonder if you can shed any light on what happened.

TB (and Fx) have been working flawlessly since installation. The Account Settings have not been changed and have been the same before, during and after this incidient:

    1. Account Settings> Server Settings> Advanced is set to "Inbox for this server's account" (I don't want to use the Global option).

    2. Account Settings> Copies & Folders is set to "Place copy in Sent Folder" of the same account.

I composed and sent a message. The Sending Message dialog box appeared and went through each stage of sending through to "Mail Sent Successfully ". When I went to the Send folder to move & file the message, it wasn't there. I recomposed and tried to send the message 3 more times with the same result.

Then I tried shutting sown and rebooting. When TB launched, the dialog box appeared for "Do you want to send your unsent messages?" Before I could select Yes or No, TB began sending the messages while the dialog remained open. The "Fatal Exception has occurred and TB will be shut down" then appeared and I closed TB.

I rebooted and ran into the identical sequence of events again.

I found the unsent messages in Local Folders> Unsent Messages. I deleted the messages there, shut down and deleted the Unsent Messages in the TB profile.

I rebooted without issue. Then sent a test message that was successfully sent and the copy was placed in the correct Sent folder. Subsequent messages also appear to have been handled correctly.

So, my question is that without change to the Account Settings, how did the message Sends end up in Local Folders> Unsent Messages, and why are we back to normal operation after deleting those Unsent messages?

I'd appreciate any thoughts you may have. Thanks.

    Bob,

The "Unsent" folder in Local Folders is used when working Offline, and electing to send a message at a later time, or when going online. Did you opt for Offline Support when installing TB?

My suspicions, you inadvertently clicked / bumped the "off line icon" on the lower left of TB screen. It looks kind of like a bowtie. It should be green. If dark/black, you have TB off line. Click on icon, should turn green, can now send mail.

    Ramona & Dennis:

Thanks for the replies. My guess is that Dennis is probably correct. I wasn't aware that the offline icon could be clicked to go on/offline. I probably got sloppy intending to hit the Start button and got offline instead. I don't have another explanation that flies, so I'm making that my story and sticking to it!

    Hi Dennis,

Your response may be confusing to anyone not using XP's default (Luna) display or TB's default theme. With the Windows Classic display, and TB's default theme, the offline icon looks more like a snake or a firehose, and it's gray. When offline, the snake/hose is covered by a red X.

    Thank you Jim

Yes, I use LittleFox and LittleBird themes. Have it on XP and w98. They have a very small footprint. No compatability problems.

    Jim,
it is good to have this input, and makes me think of a response which originally gave at another forum, pertaining to the Skypilot theme in NS8.
And, I caught myself before I sent some confusing info, because I had used the default theme first.
Yea, the bowtie looked to me like the one which I attempt to tie. It looks like a snake or some wiggly thing!
