Most of us accept the fact that email and Spam are joined at the hip. To minimize the impact, we have 2 email accounts... one very guarded for personnel use and a second we hand out like candy. I use MyRealBox (IMAP) for this second account. This email service is provided by Novell and is a "Test bed" for Novell network email development. I accept their temporary blackouts but enjoy their very strong "Spam management ".
The past two days when I load TB 1504, the following halt error ..
A few times after above message has been cleared and I click on a folder for account I will receive the following ..
I can clear the error message(s) by clicking on "OK ", but I have no connection to MyRealBox email server. This problem cleared itself up for a few hours over the past day, then returned. I can use Firefox and access the email service via Internet with no issues.
I have not changed the account settings and are as follows ...
    Server name = mail.myrealbox.com
    User name is correct
Security setting = SSL which defaults to port 993
Also "disabled" firewall (Kerio), problem continues.
Anyone else having TB / IMAP / MyRealbox connection problems?

    Dennis,

No problems with MyRealBox here, at least so far. I have, however, been receiving an exorbitant amount of spam? Of course the Junk filter takes care of it, but I am quite surprised that I am receiving it at all?

    Hi Ramona

    Thanks for the response. :D
No setting I used seem to correct it. So I fired up Opera, and created an MyRealBox / IMAP account, worked flawlessly. So that seem to point to a TB problem. So I removed the account, closed / open TB and added IMAP account back in. Same problem continued. Closed TB, loaded Opera, no problem at all. So I again removed IMAP from TB and added MyRealBox as a POP3 account and it now links to server. I still have one more IMAP account (xxx@aim.com) which continues to work fine. Don't know what caused this problem. Generally removing an account clears up most problems in TB. I'm just glad MyRealBox servers work with both IMAP and POP3 accounts. My email address stays the same so I don't have to change any of my subscriptions.
    OFF TOPIC
Just a gripe with TB. Many of us have numerous email accounts. Why can they not provide an option to list the accounts in the order you want to see them listed. You can easily get "default" to the top listing. But the balance fall under in the order you added when the account was made. I now have then in my preferred order, but I had to "remove then add" the accounts back in to get them that way. Will go over to Mozillazine.org and suggest an extension which can provide control to accounts list position/view.
    Thanks Ramona

    Thanks Ramona for the link.
I searched for that type of extension, but on the extension page and could not find anything. Using same search terms on Google put it on top of the list .. duhhh!!! Off to install another extension. Thanks again.:) :p

I had been getting an enormous amount of spam, starting in early February. In fact, I gave up using Myrealbox account. For the heck of it, I tried to set up in one of the Seamonkeys, and it failed to connect. I, then went to the website, and found over 530 messages. All, but some in February, were obvios spam (mostly viagra-type), and a few phishing attempts.
Does anyone know if it is possible to request that the username be taken out of circulation?

    Westside,

In the left panel of this page: http://www.myrealbox.com/ there is a "contact us" link. I would think you could at least make a request there.

I was getting directly into Mail when I was logging in, due to a bookmark. however, I figured out the same thing you suggested, about two minutes after posting. I asked them to stop wasting bandwidth, and remove my username from circulation.

    Hi Guys

For a brief time a couple of months ago it seemed like the spam gates opened. But that lasted about two weeks and went back to normal, which is very few. I've had a MRB account since dropping Netscape / Netscape NIM, then Mozilla, and moving to Firefox 0.xx.

I had had MyRealBox for at least four years, with hardly any problem, which were handled by the Junk Controls, but this stuff has been bad, and unrelenting.
I did get an automated message, but it does not look very hopeful, since all spam has been generated outside @myrealbox, and, i can't access my account in a Mail Client.

    Westside,

I received a canned response also with the same information.

Are you saying that you can't access MyRealBox through Thunderbird?

I had removed the account, and then just put it back. And, it would not, either when set up as IMAP (imap.myrealbox.com) or POP(pop3.myrealbox.com). I used to have as POP3 account. I did not try after removing the extra junk.
Now, I just setup, again, the POP3 account, and it has sending the information to login for the past 10 minutes, at least. The progress is two green lines, and my AVG e-mail scanner is working overtime. After a while, it goes back to one line. I checked the website, and there were 11 spam messages. After deleting them, TB indicated that there was no message
